Things to Look for When Hiring a Contractor
- Make sure the installer has a valid
CA
state contractors license. To view our license click here and enter license number 755672.
- How high is the contractors liability insurance?
SJHF has a $2 million liability insurance policy. Insurance certificate
presented upon request.
- Always ask for references. Make sure they have
5-10 references that you can call.
- If time allows, ask for a tour at a current job
location. Butch Kirk, President of SJHF, will be glad to meet you
on a current job site and give you a tour of the work in progress.
- Ask the contractor to explain why water/moisture
is the worst enemy of wood. SJHF takes special precautions against
moisture damage when installing floors. Call for important details.
- Make sure the contractor is an authorized installer
for the product line they sell to you. If a contractor is not authorized
to install a particular product, your warranty may be invalid, and repairs
may be costly. SJHF is an authorized installer for the following products:
Legends, Kahrs, Junckers, Robbins, Bruce, Hartco, Andersen Floors, Harris
Tarkett, Mannington, Pergo, Witex, Wilsonart and others. Please call
for details.
- Make sure they know how to work with other contractors
simultaneously. SJHF has established relationships and worked with
most prominent contractors and sub-contractors in the Bay Area.
